Shanmugam is one of the founding Partners and valuable team member of Francis Pereira & Shan. He graduated with a LL.B (Hons) degree from the University of London (External) and after completing the Certificate of Legal Practice, he was admitted and enrolled as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in the year 1994.

Shan has a strong reputation in conveyancing, corporate, commercial and Insurance law matters and has the ability to handle both contentious and non-contentious matters. Shan’s focus is in corporate and commercial litigation and disputes namely winding up and insolvency matters, motor and non-motor insurance law and industrial law.

His knowledge encompasses all aspects of commercial and contractual transactions. His skills range from non-contentious corporate and commercial law advice to highly contested civil litigation work. He provides advice to all types of corporates and Insurance companies on the risks and regulations surrounding their area of operation.

He also sits on the panel of adjudicators of the Advocates & Solicitors’ Compensation Fund and has chaired in the panel of Disciplinary Committee of the Disciplinary Board. Amidst his busy practice, Shan never fails to find time for community service.  He has also served as the President of the Rotary Club of Melawati and as District Officer of Rotary District 3300 as well as the legal advisor to Yayasan Kelab Kelab Rotary Malaysia.
